Dig Into Animals!

The Basye-Orkney Springs Library invites you to a very special program on Saturday, May 18 from 12pm-2 pm.  Staff from the Luray Zoo will stop by, along with some of their animal friends!  Enjoy songs, crafts, and snacks, and "have a wild day" with us. 

 
Basye Book Sale

Stop by the Basye-Orkney Springs Library during Memorial Day weekend for a terrific Used Book Sale.  On Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25 from 10 am-4 pm, choose your favorites from a great selection. All proceeds benefit the library.

 
TAG Meeting

The County Library's last Teen Advisory Group meeting before Summer Reading begins will be held on Friday, May 31 at 4:30 pm. We'll put the final touches on the "teen space" project and the next Video Game Tournament, and have plenty of time for food and games.  We hope to see you there!

 

 
Shenandoah Room Hours

Devoted to local history resources, the Shenandoah Room at the County Library is open during regular business hours.  Please note:  Material held in the Archives Room can be made available only from Monday-Friday.  The Shenandoah Room operates primarily as a self-service facility, with assistance available according to the following schedule:

New Market Food Preservation Workshop

Come to the New Market Area Library on Saturday, May 18 at 3:00 pm for an introduction to the art of food preservation.  Bev Butterfield will discuss the basics of canning, freezing, jam-making and pickling while Dottie Edwards will discuss food dehydration.  This program is free of charge, and no registration is required.  Please join us!

 
Fort Valley May Lyceum

The Fort Valley Library is proud to announce that Callan Bentley, Assistant Professor of Geology at Northern Virginia Community College, will be the speaker at its May Lyceum.  In a talk entitled "Snowball Earth," Professor Bentley will discuss the causes and effects of the planetary ice age that took place some 700 million years ago.  The talk takes place on Saturday, May 25 at 10 am, with refreshments served at 9:30 am.  Please join us.
