Dr. Seuss' Birthday


It's time to celebrate Dr. Seuss' 111th birthday! Parties with snacks, crafts, and more will take place at most of our locations on Monday, March 2 at 4:00 pm. (The Fort Valley Library will not be participating). We hope you can join us!



Rainbow Loom Workshop

We're at it again! Join us at the County Library on Friday, March 13 at 4:30 pm as we present a Rainbow Loom workshop with loomer extraordinaire Sierra Newberry. Bring your own loom, or borrow one of ours, and learn some new designs. We'll even provide the bands!


Bowling for Books

The Shenandoah County Library Foundation invites everyone to participate in a "Bowling for Books" fundraiser at the Mountain View Lanes in Woodstock on Saturday, March 21 from 9:00 am-Noon. Medals will be awarded to top performers, and all proceeds will benefit the Shenandoah County Library System. Registration and pledge forms may be downloaded here.

Good-Pie Miss Diane!

The County Library's much-beloved Children's Librarian, Miss Diane, is leaving us to begin new adventures. Please stop by between 5:00 pm-6:30 pm for a "Good-Pie" Party on Thursday, March 12. We'll have crafts, face painting, and cookies for kids as well as pie and punch for adults. Let's show Miss Diane how very much we will miss her!

Super Smash Bros. Tournament

Calling teen gamers! The County Library is holding another Super Smash Bros. tournament on Saturday, March 21 at 12:30 pm. We'll be playing the new Wii U version. Register in-person at the County Library, or online by clicking here. Let the game begin!

Winter Reading Program

Beginning February 1, infants through first graders (and their parents) are invited to "Snuggle Up with a Good Book" as part of our Winter Reading Program at the County Library or New Market Area Library.  The program is a commonwealth-wide initiative, coordinated by the Library of Virginia, developed to instill a love of reading in our youngest patrons.
